DALLAS — The North Texas Wildlife Center in Plano is facing an untimely demise if something isn’t done quick.
In a heartfelt social media post, the center shared that the City of Plano has given a 60-day notice to find a new location to operate or the center will be forced to close its doors.
The City of Plano informed the wildlife center that they “couldn’t operate a facility that generate foot traffic from a residential area,” according to the Facebook post.
North Texas Wildlife Center is a rehabilitation center for local injured or orphaned wildlife. It was established in 2013 as Dallas Wildlife Center and took in over 2,200 wildlife animals in 2023, according to the North Texas Wildlife Center’s website.
The City of Plano said that the center is violating a zoning ordinance by being run out of a home in a residential area.
The wildlife center is asking residents, if they have any knowledge of available properties, land or partnerships, to reach out to them directly.
